To uncover the mystery of his origins, Li Yun ventures alone into Kunlun Mountain's "Gate of Hell," only for his physical body to perish unexpectedly and his soul to transmigrate to a parallel Warring States era where soul power reigns supreme. Reborn as a baby, he watches his parents, Li Wei, a genius general of the Muwei Sect, and his mother Lin Xue'er, transformed from a soul essence, die in a blood-soaked valley while fleeing the pursuit of Gabriel, the pope of the Soul-Suppressing Hall. On the brink of death, his father sacrifices his own soul to seal a fragment of the ancient treasure, the Kunlun Mirror, inside him. Thus, his twin martial souls awaken: the Nine Cauldrons can devour the soul power of Heaven and Earth, while the Kunlun Mirror can reveal the secrets of time and space.
Six years later, Li Yun, disguised as a blacksmith's son, awakens his martial soul in Mu Hun Village, triggering an ancient soul-devouring seal and breaking through by devouring thousands of vengeful spirits. To evade the Soul-Suppressing Hall's pursuit, he flees to Luoyi in Eastern Zhou with his childhood friend Lin Wanwan, whose Kunlun Snowvine martial soul possesses both healing and deadly poison attributes. There, he enters the Imperial Academy's martial arts school to train. He meets the haughty instructor Su Wan, the strategist Han Xin, and the mighty Xiang Yu, and is taken in as a disciple by the reclusive Guiguzi, learning the secrets of chaos.
When the Kunlun underground palace opens, Li Yun uncovers the Soul-Suppressing Hall's shocking conspiracy: using soul-devouring technology to tear open the Gate of Guixu and unleash demons from beyond the realms. The crystal ore formed from his mother Lin Xue'er, the nebula seal his father left behind, and the formations passed down by Guiguzi all point to the true purpose of the Kunlun Mirror: to mend the rifts in time and space and prevent the annihilation of two worlds.
In this war of soul power and strategy, Li Yun will use his engineering mind to unravel ancient seals and use his twin martial souls to reconcile the paradox between materialist and idealist laws. Amid the return and betrayal of heroic spirits from history, he must also choose the path that will protect all living beings...
