The Mistress of the Household Throws in the Towel

My son insisted on taking a prostitute as his concubine. I did everything I could to stop him, so he came to resent me.

My daughter fell secretly in love with a poor scholar. I locked her in her room and arranged a marriage for her with a family of equal standing.

She didn't come home to see me for years.

Later, when I fell gravely ill, my son and daughter joined forces with my husband, who favored his concubine and neglected his wife. They cast me out to the country estate and refused to send for a doctor.

They left me to freeze to death in a thatched hut.

When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the day my son clamored to take a concubine.

This time, I, the lady of the household, am done carrying the burden.
