Ancient romance, mystery, detective cases, strong female lead, equally matched leads, ensemble cast, political intrigue, alternate history

The Smiling Corpse Case, the Sacrificial Heavenly Fire Case, the Bride’s Gown and River Corpse Case...

They say that the greatest hermits hide in the city. Wen Lili was raised from childhood to become a spy. By day, she pretends to be a fortune-teller with a street stall. By night, she drops her gentle facade and carries out missions as a spy.

One day, she receives a mission from the Wuyin Pavilion and is forced to join the investigation into a strange case on the Ministry of Justice’s wanted list.

Meanwhile, Vice Minister of Justice Kuang Ye leads a team of young detectives as they unravel one baffling case after another.

As Wen Lili grows closer to her fellow investigators, she finds herself caught in a dilemma...

“If one day you found out I was a fox wearing a mask, would you still be willing to trust me?”

The Wuyin Pavilion threatens her, and although she seems to be under its thumb, she resolves to lay her plans and break free of its control. She believes that she alone holds the reins of her fate.
