Qin Changchuan stood in the middle of the Lin family’s hall, surrounded by gazes as sharp as swords that left him shivering.
“Changchuan, I’m sorry. We’re not right for each other.” Lin Ruoxi lowered her head, her voice barely audible, yet the words exploded in Qin Changchuan’s ears like thunder.
He couldn’t believe it. His fiancée of three years had chosen the day of their engagement to break off the engagement.
“Ruoxi, why?” Qin Changchuan fought through the pain in his heart, his voice trembling slightly.
Lin Ruoxi raised her head. A hint of undisguised disgust flashed in her beautiful eyes. “You’re not worthy of the Lin family. You’ve eaten and lived at our expense all these years. We’ve done more than enough for you.”
Her words immediately drew a chorus of scoffs from those around them.
“I knew it. How could a live-in son-in-law like him ever be good enough for the Lin family’s young lady?”
“Exactly. He’s just some poor kid. Who knows what kind of luck got him here?”
“Well, now he can get lost!”
Qin Changchuan clenched his fists, his nails digging deep into his palms. He looked around at the people who had once bowed and scraped before him. Now, every one of them stared at him with contempt.
