In a secluded mountain village, cut off from the outside world by its remote location, an ancient legend of a fox immortal has long been told. The villagers believe the fox immortal protects the mountains and forests, and that anyone who offends it will meet with misfortune. Every year on the night of the winter solstice, the village holds a ritual called the Lantern Offering, lighting lanterns to honor the fox immortal and pray for peace and safety.
