Peng Derui, a young man born in the 1980s, graduates from college and teams up with his classmate and good friend Feng Ye to open the Star Pool Club. Alongside billiards, the club offers coffee and hot drinks, murder mystery games, and various sports and fitness activities. With its focus on nightlife, it is a hit with young people, and business is good. A year later, Peng Derui marries Mi Li, his college classmate and girlfriend of four years. Not long after the wedding, Mi Li cheats on him with Feng Ye, who then vanishes. During an argument, Peng Derui hits Mi Li, and she wants to move back in with her parents.
