Until she was twenty-three, Ye Yiyao firmly believed she was an utterly ordinary person. Then she discovered she could communicate with animals, and a talking black cat suddenly appeared before her. She was bound to a System and forced onto a path of picking up trash every day to complete missions. As she carries them out, she also searches for clues to her mother’s disappearance. Along the way, she meets Luo Yuan, an eccentric young woman who came down from the mountains alone to find her senior brother and can knock an adult man flying with one punch; He Yunshu, a sharp-witted, sharp-tongued college student who loves exploring; and Zhou Ziyu, a mysterious man who claims to be a fortune-teller and deliberately approaches them. As the missions grow harder, Ye Yiyao realizes the System seems to be hiding a lot from her. Xu You, captain of the criminal investigation squad, also begins paying attention to this girl who keeps appearing near serious crimes. There seems to be more to her than meets the eye. Beneath the once-peaceful surface of Lianfeng County, danger is brewing and malice churns out of sight. One bizarre case after another points to the same group of people, and as the four investigate, they unexpectedly become entangled with four great clans that date back hundreds of years. With the cases shrouded in mystery, can these four people with special abilities lift the fog and uncover the lost truth?
