The Tang dynasty is at the height of its glory, and heroes emerge from every corner of the land. Lin Yu was born into poverty, but he was exceptionally talented and a superb martial artist. With both parents dead, he had to support himself from a young age and endured a hard life. One day, as he sat at a busy street in Chang'an offering to write for passersby, a splendid carriage sped by. Muddy water splashed up from its wheels and soaked him. Lin Yu glared furiously and was about to confront its occupants when the carriage curtain lifted slightly, revealing a peerlessly beautiful face. It belonged to Su Yao, the daughter of the wealthy Master Su of Chang'an. She was captivatingly beautiful and noble in bearing, and her luxurious clothes glittered in the sunlight.
When Su Yao and Lin Yu's eyes met, sparks flew. They fell in love at first sight and vowed to spend their lives together. But when Lin Yu asked Master Su for his daughter's hand, he was rejected because of the vast difference in their social standing. Determined to earn Master Su's approval, Lin Yu braved wind and rain, standing outside the Su residence day after day to loudly call Su Yao's name, declare his steadfast love, and kneel without rising. His sincerity moved Su Yao's parents, and Master Su promised to approve their marriage if Lin Yu earned a degree in the imperial examinations. Lin Yu studied diligently and at last passed with flying colors.
Just as he went to the Su residence to ask for Su Yao's hand, the family fell into trouble after being framed by treacherous officials at court. Su Yao fled home and sought refuge with Lin Yu. They embraced as tears streamed down her face. Choking back sobs, she told him, “No matter what happens, I will never leave you!” The two decided to elope and venture out into the world together. But the martial world was treacherous, unpredictable, and full of danger. In an unknown world, husband and wife supported each other through every hardship, faced danger without flinching and outwitted their enemies, vanquished demons and monsters, and became invincible beneath the heavens...
