Making a Living in the Song Dynasty

Ye Shu, a woman in her thirties with a background in science and engineering, struggles with complicated workplace relationships and a tense, oppressive work environment. Often despondent, she one day falls into a deep sleep under immense psychological pressure.

When she opens her eyes again, she finds herself in the Song dynasty, a thousand years in the past. After her initial panic, Ye Shu gradually regains her composure.

Rescued by kind strangers, she escapes a famine-stricken region and makes her way to bustling Bianjing. The crowded markets ring with hawkers’ cries and laughter, while ornate pavilions and towers evoke the elegance of ancient times.

Faced with this utterly unfamiliar world, Ye Shu earns her first fortune by making cakes.

Later, Ye Shu introduces cotton from the Western Regions, giving people cotton cloth, clothes, and quilts and improving their lives.

Along the way, Ye Shu meets like-minded companions. Together, they work to improve people’s livelihoods and advance society. At the same time, a romantic love story quietly begins.
