"Miss, please, save my daughter!"
Someone jumped into the river to kill herself. The drowning woman's mother fell to her knees at my feet, begging me to jump in and save her, but I watched with cold indifference.
In my previous life, driven by an innate sense of justice, I threw myself into the water to save her.
I even used every ounce of my strength to lift the drowning woman above the surface.
But she viciously held my head under the water, refusing to let me catch my breath.
In the end, she was rescued, while I died in the icy river.
When they were interviewed, the mother and daughter said, "What does her death have to do with us? She brought it on herself by playing the hero!"
When I opened my eyes again, I saw the river ghosts' scrolling comments on the water's surface:
"Take my place in death. Get down here!"
