“Ye Bingshang waited for someone. She waited thirteen years.
It wasn't that she had to wait for him. She just didn't want the prophecy to come true: five of her closest kin, and only one left for the rest of her life.
She died in the imperial prison, a bowl of poisoned gruel ending her former life. When she woke, she had become a six-year-old girl from the outer sect of Lotus Pier in Yunmeng.
In this life, she thought she had found happiness: a father who loved her, a younger brother who trusted her, and companions who stood by her side.
Until a great fire, in the year she turned sixteen, burned it all away.
To return home, she went through forty-eight lives and a body covered in wounds before setting foot on the grounds of Lotus Pier again.
She thought that coming home would be enough.
But the wheels of fate kept turning. She wasn't the protagonist, or even a supporting character. She was merely someone on the outermost edge, able to see everything clearly but powerless to change anything.
She saw him on the endless wasteland. All alone, unable to escape the past or step into the future.
She had walked that road herself. She knew how much it hurt.
So all she wanted was to hold the flame in her hands a little higher
so he would know someone was still behind him.
If he wanted, there were many more people, too.
The story is in the [Main Story] volume. The earlier parts aren't. They went off track.”
The emotional lines are touching (including family ties and love). I especially like Jiang Tang's tough yet gentle character. When the Jiang family was in trouble, he led his younger brother and friends to escape. He was injured but walked resolutely, and there was no delay in the whole process. The long-lasting relationship between the two people is reassuring to watch. Even without "I love you", you know that they are in love.
It's beautiful, but so depressing and sad. How could Ah Xian and Bing Shang be so distressing?
Good-looking, deeply rooted in people's hearts
