This book mainly thinks and studies Shanxi rural society in modern times from the aspects of collective system, natural ecology, agricultural technology, culture and education, and historical theories of social evolution. It reflects the characteristics of Shanxi rural society. It also discusses the above issues in the context of big history, including institutional, technological, ecological, and cultural issues in historical materialist historiography, and explains the context of social development. The selected articles in this book adhere to the multi-disciplinary and multi-document method of social history research, reflect the vivid history through rich historical materials, and also put forward some new perspectives and methods based on the characteristics of Shanxi rural society, such as considering agricultural technology and culture and education as the core content to be discussed in social structure, breaking through some bottlenecks in current social history research.
