[Rebellion] [Power Struggle] [No System] [Late Ming] [Ming Dynasty] [Passionate] [Decisive and Ruthless] [Crush Bandits and Repel Invaders]
A twenty-year-old history student is killed beneath the wheels of a king-sized truck on his way home from class. When he wakes, he’s in Xuanfu in the second year of Chongzhen. Once he gets his bearings, he discovers that his own father is Fan Yongdou, the foremost of the Eight Great Imperial Merchants of the Qing. In other words, he’s the son of a traitor.
Fan Yan turns around and has his father killed, then rebuilds the realm!
“Father, after you die, I’ll lead the Fan family to eternal fame. Next life, don’t be a traitor.”
Through a series of moves by Fan Yan, his father, Fan Yongdou, is mistaken for a Ming court mole and killed by Huang Taiji. Fan Yan then takes over the Fan family as a matter of course, battles the Shanxi merchants, strikes the Jianzhou Jurchens in the north, and wipes out the rebels in the south.
But then he witnesses people in Shaanxi eating one another while the vassal princes indulge in wine and extravagance.
Fan Yan cleaves open a granary with one stroke of his blade. “From this day on, I decide how this realm is divided!”
Li Zicheng: “I hear Fan Yan came up with the slogan ‘Equal land, no taxes.’ Why didn’t I think of that sooner?”
Huang Taiji: “With this man on the scene, the Great Qing will never have another chance to enter the Central Plains!”
Chongzhen weeps before hanging himself at Coal Hill: “My ministers have ruined me... If only I’d had Fan Yan, things would never have come to this!”
The son of a traitor? No. I am the gravedigger of Huaxia.
I’ll bury the Ming, lay the Qing to rest, and build a bright new world!
