The Immortal Emperor's Punishment

The Demon King returned to the mortal world and got locked in a bitter struggle with a nobody.

He lured the nobody to a great demon’s lair, hoping to have the demon do his dirty work. Instead, the two fell off a cliff and met an old man who gave them a secret manual.

He left demonic energy on the nobody, hoping to have the righteous factions hunt him down together. Instead, the nobody ran off to various secret realms and came away with countless precious treasures.

The Demon King was furious. Fine, fine, this nobody must be blessed by destiny, if he’s that hard to kill.

Then one day, the Demon King discovered that saving the nobody earned him merit... He seemed to have found a painless shortcut to ascending to immortality.

His daily routine: create all kinds of crises for the nobody, then swoop in to save him when his life is on the line, and rake in the rewards.

He was just like an immortal seated high above the clouds, becoming the nobody’s beloved ideal in the mortal world.

Later, when the Demon King ascended to the Immortal Realm and saw the man seated upon the throne, he finally realized that the person he had toyed with was no nameless nobody at all!
