Wu Weiye (1609-1671 AD), courtesy name Jungong and Meicun, was a great poet during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Precociously intelligent, he was a disciple of Zhang Pu. He became a Jinshi in the fourth year of Chongzhen (1631), and served successively as editor of the Hanlin Academy, Zuo Shuzi, etc. After the death of the Ming Dynasty, Zeng served as Shao Zhan in the Southern Ming Dynasty.
