Shuza collected novels, historical biographies, and local chronicles, classified them into categories, and was completed in the fourth year of Wanli (1576). It is divided into sixteen categories, including astronomy, geography, five elements, divine blessing, foreknowledge, Ling Bo, adventure, bravery, subduing the dragon, subduing the tiger, banning poison, eliminating demons, poisons, spirits, immortals and Buddhas, and gods and ghosts. They all record strange and grotesque things, including recent news from the Ming Dynasty, especially those who collected contemporary miscellaneous works and official and unofficial histories. The sources are noted in all quotations.
