Teacher to Emperor Taizong: From the Start, I Shocked Li Shimin

Li Yichen transmigrated to the early Tang Dynasty, just after Li Shimin ascended the throne.

Li Shimin: "The emperor's authority is bestowed by Heaven."

Li Yichen: "Then why didn't you stay home and wait for Heaven to make the arrangements back then?"

Li Shimin: "The people may be made to follow, but not to understand. We can't let everyone in the realm read books."

Li Yichen: "Could that saying be interpreted this way: 'If the people can do it, let them; if they can't, teach them'? In other words, if the people can do something, let them do it. If they can't, educate them and help them understand. How can they understand without reading? And without reading, how will they know that you're the greatest emperor of all time?"

Li Shimin: "Teach me."

Li Yichen: "Come closer. I'll whisper it in your ear."
