In her previous life, Lianfu was the personal maid of Shen Shanyue, the eldest young lady. Shen held on to her contract of indenture and even forced her to become the young master’s bedchamber maid. Though she kept her head down and behaved, her hands and feet were cut off and her throat slit. She died a humiliating death as a human pig.
Given a new life, she decides to live differently.
Before she can be sent to the young master’s bed, she gets his adoptive father, the formidable Duke, into bed first.
Others assume the Duke is only taken with her for the moment and will discard her after a couple of days.
But they don’t expect her to take down scoundrels, outmaneuver wicked women, and gradually gain control of the household and its power.
After settling the regrets of her past life, she plans to slip away.
But the Duke corners her against the wall. “The mistress of my household would be the most honored woman in the land. You don’t want that?”
Lianfu shakes her head, afraid to speak. Then she sees the Duke’s eyes turn red. “Then you don’t want me either?”
