A country dumps nuclear wastewater into the sea, and Blue Star’s ecosystem deteriorates. Faced with the dual threats of viruses and radiation, Huaguo takes the lead in launching the Ark Project. In 2080, a total of 66 deep-space arks are launched into orbit.
The project aims to accelerate the spacecraft to near-light speed, creating a sufficient time difference to send the arks, carrying human genes and all of humanity’s cultural heritage, one million years into the future. This allows them to skip the time Blue Star needs to reduce radiation and restore its ecosystem.
After 236 years of near-light-speed travel, Deep-Space Ark No. 36 is the first to return to Blue Star. By then, one million years have passed on the planet.
The protagonist, Ling Hao, has an accident while carrying out a ground reconnaissance mission.
