It tells the story of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's great journey of salvation in hell. He made great aspiration to face the endless pain, darkness and the struggle of evil spirits, and use compassion and wisdom to point out the way to liberation for confused souls. Although he had many karmic obstacles and encountered demonic provocations and new challenges, he remained firm in his faith, used the power of compassion to influence demons, and promoted Buddhism. During the arduous journey, he led awakened souls and demons to defeat evil forces, undergo spiritual tests, and finally empty hell. Even if he succeeds, he still chooses to stay in the world to protect all living beings.
