The Emperor Is Training His Wolves Again Today

On his birthday, Wenren Jin, the emperor of the Central Plains, receives an unusual gift: a “werewolf” from the Southern Borderlands.

The “werewolf” is a dreadful sight, with dark skin and unkempt hair. He looks less like a “werewolf” than a mangy little dog unfit to be seen in public.

The wolf pup bites the emperor's finger at their first meeting, then pins the exalted ruler to the ground as if he were its dinner. Just as it bares its little fangs and prepares to feast, the emperor outsmarts it.

After failing to kill anyone, the wolf pup is tossed into prison for reform, but the effort comes to nothing.

And so the emperor embarks on a long journey to tame the wolf.
