Reborn on the Day the Feathered Clan Chose Their Spirit Pets

When I was eighteen hundred years old, my father, the king, asked my younger sister and me to choose spirit pets.

I chose a Feifei, because the Classic of Mountains and Seas says that keeping one can chase away sorrow.

My sister thought my spirit pet was useless and chose a spirit snake instead.

Unexpectedly, her haste for quick success caused the spirit snake to turn on her. Her spiritual power was drained, and the snake even stole her fiance.

Meanwhile, my Feifei brought good fortune and became the beloved darling of the Feather Clan. I became the next Feather Emperor.

My sister was consumed with jealousy. At my succession ceremony, she plunged an ice-crystal water blade into my chest!

When I opened my eyes again, my sister and I had both been reborn, back on the day the Feather Clan chose their spirit pets.

This time, my sister chose the Feifei first.

"Just you wait! This time you'll be the one it turns on. I'll be the beloved darling, the next Feather Emperor!"

She didn't know that Feifei are hard to raise. To grow into spirit beasts, they must be fed a daily offering of the keeper's heart's blood...

And the one that truly holds boundless power is the one-of-a-kind spirit snake!
