Li Ming is a young detective who takes on a missing-person case involving Li Zhenglin's only daughter, Li Zixuan. To her family, Li Zixuan is a happy, perfect girl, yet her disappearance fails to cause the commotion her parents should have made. Instead, they respond with a strange indifference. As Li Ming investigates, the unusual nature of the case gradually comes to light. The townspeople all seem to be hiding something, while Li Zixuan's family is remarkably uncooperative. The deeper Li Ming digs, the more he senses that a much larger conspiracy is waiting for him.
