William Singleton.
A name known to everyone, and a name despised by many.
“Please give me a little more time. The children of [Hearth House] will be ready for the battlefield soon.”
The black-robed man wore a mysterious mask. Its design showed a heart supported by four pairs of hands in different colors, representing emotion, reason, strength, and restraint.
“Oh, Duke William, I think the Association has already given you plenty of time. The destruction of the First Mask wasted far too much of ours,” the masked man said impatiently.
“Yes, yes, it’s all my uncle’s fault for being so paranoid. Give us another three years, and we’ll provide the Association with candidates you’ll be satisfied with.”
Duke William flipped through the pages quickly and carelessly. These lives, whose hearts beat with the same warmth as his own, were nothing more than cold data in his hands.
Unless something unexpected happened, this quarter’s assessment would be another failure.
Suddenly, Duke William’s previously indifferent eyes widened involuntarily. His gaze had stopped on an unexpected report.
