This story follows a girl who is reborn in another world with her memories intact, and recounts her life from beginning to end. It has its funny and tearful moments, though it mostly keeps things light and comedic.
The romance between the male and female leads develops later in the story, so be warned if that's important to you.
The main story is told in the first person. The girl dies saving someone, and God gives her the option to choose how she will be reborn. She says she wants to be a tree that lives for a thousand years without dying. But the staff member in charge of reincarnation misunderstands her and rebirths her as a lingzhi mushroom that lives for a thousand years, sending her to another world.
The ruler of that other world is named Jinwu. They say his true form resembles a crow, and he loves wearing black robes.
The girl lives cautiously in the other world for over a thousand years, but is betrayed by the person she trusts most and nearly dies. Fortunately, someone uses a sleight of hand to send her to the divine race, where she becomes Lord Jinwu's maidservant.
A great war is raging at the time, and the entire other world is once again plunged into conflict. Jinwu is ambushed and forced to reveal his true form, right in front of the girl.
With the memories of her past life, she believes crows are surely ill omens. So she plucks the injured Lord Jinwu bare and tosses him into the stove to roast.
