Her parents are burned to death in a fire, and her brother is left disfigured. Before long, the man who grew up with her marries her, the orphaned heiress, and his whole family moves into her imperial garden villa.
She pays for her new husband to study abroad and covers all her in-laws’ expenses, only for him to return with his pregnant mistress and demand a divorce and a share of her fortune.
Her husband tells her:
“My senior sister is mature, kind, and independent. She despises women who cling to men and depend on them... You, on the other hand, are just a hothouse flower. If my family hadn’t kept you company and cared for you these past two years, you’d probably have died of depression by now!”
Her sister-in-law sneers at her:
“Luo Qingchen, what good is all your money when you’re a discarded woman who can’t have children? What man would marry you and end his family line? Don’t think you’ll ever find anyone as good as my brother.”
Later, she has a strange dream. The man in it has two faces: one she knows, and one she doesn’t. Soon, she encounters the unfamiliar face from her dream...
The man tells someone who has come to stir up trouble: “There are women who can have children everywhere, but there’s only one Luo Qingchen...”
Later, her ex-husband realizes that she isn’t a hothouse flower after all, and that she can live very well without a man...
