Have you ever seen an absurd parent ask a teacher to suck the snot out of their child’s nose? I have. For five years, I was the only teacher at the kindergarten, aside from the director. I handled everything for the kids, from meals and drinks to bathroom needs, while the director just sat nearby scrolling on her phone and yelling at me. But then, one day, a parent tagged me in the group chat.
“The seasons are changing and all the kids have colds. Teacher Chen, could you suck the snot out of my child’s nose?”
“I’ll pay you a thousand yuan.”
My hand holding the phone began to tremble violently. But the director, blinded by the money, chased after me and pressured me, even repeating that classic line: “If you won’t do it, there are plenty of people who will!”
I finally couldn’t take it anymore. I quit my kindergarten teaching job, which paid just 3,000 yuan a month, and left the director to run the place alone. She didn’t know that those parents were all unreasonable people who only knew how to exploit teachers. Later, she cried and begged me to come back, but by then I’d passed the exam to become an elementary school teacher. I would never go back.
