Nan Yi nodded. "A person's life lasts only a dozen or so years, a short and sorrowful span. The river flows on without end. How could the two ever compare? Your mother gave you a very fine name."

Nan Yi stiffened. Instinctively, he raised a hand to remove Jiang Xian's arms, but his movement stopped halfway.
Jiang Xian suddenly lifted his head and met Nan Yi's eyes. His eyes were half-lidded, and a faint smile played on his lips. "Congratulations on turning twenty-three this year, sir. May you live to a hundred and enjoy peace and safety every year thereafter."
"The spring breeze stretches ten li, and the flowers are in full bloom."
