A flirtatious darling of Beijing's elite circles VS a gloomy, deranged Buddhist devotee (the heroine is passive at first, then fights back; the hero is hopelessly lovestruck, the kind of super lovesick man the heroine trains into a big puppy...)

He was forcibly sent to a psychiatric sanatorium and locked away for three years. He tried desperately to be obedient, only to be abandoned and sent to a tiny temple deep in the wilderness, a thousand miles away, where no one cared whether he lived or died. Years later, he suddenly returned to Beijing. Everyone in their circle praised him as compassionate, kind, and always willing to help...

At the birthday banquet, he was gentle and composed with the guests. But in the lounge, as he watched Qin Yao doze in a drunken stupor on the sofa, his gaze settled on her pale, delicate neck.

Such a tiny neck. He could wrap one hand all the way around it...

Later, he cornered her in a dark, unlit restroom. His voice was hoarse, tinged with a strained, awkward embarrassment. "Qin Yao, don't save me, and don't despise me..."

Just hold him, filthy as he was.

He could never be clean again. Don't waste your effort trying to pull him out, and don't reject him or throw him away. Just hold him like this, all right...

Come bind yourself to me forever. Become whatever you want, drive me mad., Qin Yao
