I was an orphan, raised from childhood under a contract my family had signed with a ferryman. When I grew up, I began fulfilling that contract. Along the way, I encountered all sorts of wondrous, dreamlike things: helping the souls of the dead fulfill the regrets they had in life, and helping the living contact the deceased to resolve their own regrets. Then, by chance, I discovered the truth behind my family’s brutal deaths, and from that moment on, I embarked on the path of revenge.
