[Both leads are romantically inexperienced + secret crush + marriage first, love later + groveling to win her back]
No one knows that Wang Xingxing has had a crush on Shen Yi’an since her senior year of high school. This is the sixth year she’s been in love with him.
In City C, the two meet again. Shen Yi’an helps Wang Xingxing twice, and she starts to think that whenever he needs help, she just happens to be there.
The moment she learns he doesn’t have a girlfriend, she works up the courage to ask, “Shen Yi’an, do you have a girlfriend? What do you think of me?”
“No. I’m not short on girlfriends. I’m just missing someone to marry.”
“I could be that person.”
They agree to register their marriage the next day.
Wang Xingxing waits for him all morning, but he never shows. Instead, a job offer comes her way. Of course, work is more important.
They arrange to have dinner.
Shen Yi’an: “Something came up tonight. Let’s do it another time.” But soon after, Wang Xingxing runs into him dining and shopping with the woman he’s always loved.
“Jiajia, I’m over Shen Yi’an.”
“Jiajia, I went out for a bit and came back married! Hurry and congratulate me!”
She gets over him, feels happy, then gets over him all over again.
“Shen Yi’an, I don’t love you anymore. I don’t want to play along with you!”
After countless breakups and reconciliations, Wang Xingxing finally grows strong enough to stop being the weakness others can use against Shen Yi’an. They meet as equals, standing at the top together.
The plot is compact. I really like the parts between Lin Jia and Gu Nanchu. I hope there will be a sequel.
