Love Amid the Flames of War is a Republican-era romance set during the warlord conflicts, a tragic song of a world in turmoil.
Luocheng falls to enemy forces amid the flames of war. Lin Yuxuan, the son of a military family, loses his father in battle, sees his home occupied, and watches his family suffer. He switches identities with a classmate and infiltrates enemy ranks like a hidden bomb, burning with the desire for revenge. Su Yao, the kind and gentle daughter of the Lin family’s steward, badly injured her ankle as a child while saving Lin Yuxuan. After the general’s residence falls, she wanders the land with a seal Lin Yuxuan gave her, like a drifting leaf.
Lin Yuxuan becomes the enemy’s young marshal and the adopted son of their commander. Though he can protect Su Yao, he cannot reveal who he is, and the helplessness leaves him bitter. Through one twist after another, the two draw closer in the face of countless hardships, like moths flying into a flame. Amid the maelstrom of war, their love intertwines with their devotion to their country, like a rose among thorns. Can they protect their love and bring hope to the people of Luocheng in a world torn by war and rife with conspiracy? The answer awaits in the mists of fate.
