After Dying Tragically in My Past Life, I Am Reborn and Marry a Butcher Instead of a Provincial Graduate

In her previous life, her father chose husbands for her and her younger sister.

One was a poor candidate for the imperial examinations, the other a butcher from the east of town.

Her sister disliked the candidate’s poverty and wanted to eat meat, so she married the butcher from the east of town. Naturally, she married the poor candidate.

To help him pass the imperial examinations, she spent her entire dowry, managed the household, copied books, took on embroidery work, and kept him studying day after day.

Her younger sister, Su Shining, complained that the butcher’s family was poor and insisted he go hunting to earn money. Who could have guessed that the butcher would break his leg and be unable to take the military examinations?

After passing the examinations, her husband became the top scholar. Her sister resented her for taking the good husband she believed should have been hers, went to great lengths to seduce the top scholar, then sent her to a bandit den, where she died a miserable death.

Reborn, she refuses to marry the candidate and chooses the butcher instead. To her surprise, he rises to greatness, becoming not only the top military exam graduate but also a revered general who wins a decisive victory on the battlefield.

Meanwhile, the candidate fails the examinations and falls into poverty, never achieving the glory he enjoyed in her previous life.

Her sister descends into madness. “Su Muyan, what exactly did you do? In this life, I’m the one who should be the top scholar’s wife. Why didn’t the candidate become the top scholar, while the butcher passed the military examinations?”
