The story tells that in the late Tang and early Song dynasties, scholar Ning Caichen failed in the imperial examinations and ran a school in Lanruo Temple to adopt an orphan. He fell in love with the little witch Nie Xiaoqian. After Ning Caichen escaped from the demon world, he was in so much pain that he lost all his memory. Later, by chance, I met Xiaoqian, the daughter of the national preceptor who looked exactly like Xiaoqian. Sparks sparked between the two and they came together after going through hardships. In order to open the seal and control the world, grandma resurrected Xiaoqian and sent her to kill Ning Caichen and Yan Chixia to seize the Heart Sutra. Xiaoqian hated Ning Caichen and Xiaohaha for being together, but she couldn't do anything because of her true love for Ning Caichen. After Ning Caichen learned the truth, he went deep into the devil world to save Xiaoqian, but unexpectedly fell into her grandma's magic and almost made a big mistake. Grandma brought the demon clan to cause trouble in the world. Ning Caichen firmly believed that only love can never break, and with the help of everyone, he rescued Yan Chixia and destroyed his grandmother's conspiracy in time. Then Xiaoqian was harmed in order to save Ning Caichen and Xiaohaha, and she was eventually driven to pieces. Peace was restored to the world, but Ning Caichen regretted it for the rest of his life and died alone guarding Xiaoqian's token.
