Pei Shoucai's Seventh Book

My brother and I were having a small get-together with one of his classmates when we accidentally got involved with the ghost of my middle school classmate, Yang Na. She nearly killed both of us siblings. Later, a master gave us advice that temporarily saved our lives. He also told my brother that he had accumulated too much karmic sin through killing and that this was his fate. The only way forward was to do more good deeds.

They say working in law enforcement is a good way to cultivate virtue, so my brother became a criminal investigator and earned the favor of his superiors. Then a murder occurred in our county, drawing him into a dangerous whirlpool. From that point on, his health steadily declined. When he was on the brink of death, his soul arrived in the underworld.

The King of Hell, oh, no, he's now called a Level One Underworld Police Inspector, saw my brother and made him an acting deity in the mortal world.
