Moonlit Waters Around the City

[Two male leads + a touch of ensemble cast + romantic tension + you might pick the wrong couple or root for the wrong pairing]

In 1914 Fengtian, there was a wealthy family everyone knew. The eldest son fell first for his enemy’s daughter, then for a gangster princess. The second son fell for a young opera performer hired to entertain guests on the second day of his marriage. The third returned from studying abroad to discover that the neighbor girl he’d loved since childhood had become his second brother’s wife. Good grief, this Northeastern family has me completely confused.

The eldest is fickle: the deeper he loves, the more cleanly he can cut ties.

The second is a romantic: he wants to have his cake and eat it too.

The third is devoted: if it isn’t you, then anyone else will do.

A god asked me, “If only one of them can find happiness, who will you choose?”

I thought about it and said, “The one who’s suffered the most.”

“But they’ve all had a hard time.”

Apart from the ending, the story is free of schemes, conspiracies, and backstabbing. It unfolds at a gentle pace. Whether it’s family, friendship, or love, I hope readers will find warmth and strength in these pages, and let their love for the little things grow into love for their country.
