One night when Song Jing was seven, she opened her eyes to find herself lying in a mass grave. Corpses covered the hillsides, and wild dogs howled all around her.
She was terrified. She had always treasured her life. She had been so careful to keep herself hidden, yet a pack of wild dogs had found her. To survive, she fought them like a madwoman, grabbing a sword nearby and hacking at the animals in a frenzy.
In the end, the dogs fled. She lay on the ground, covered in wounds, yet seemed unable to feel any pain.
She was the daughter of the Minister of Rites, but she had a home she could not return to.
She did everything she could to stay alive.
Fortunately, she was lucky enough to meet someone and become their disciple, learning martial arts.
When her wings had grown strong enough,
she began plotting her revenge.
Lu Jin had been full of youthful confidence then, riding past her on horseback.
When they met again, something had clearly happened to him. He lay on the roadside, destitute.
She pretended to approach him by chance, then showed him a roast chicken she had supposedly struggled to snatch, along with her scarred arm. She held the chicken out to him.
“Here. Take it.”
Lu Jin looked her up and down. He found her dirty hand holding the chicken somewhat off-putting, but the growling of his stomach was impossible to ignore.
Half a year later, dressed in finery, Lu Jin reached out to her. “Come with me. You'll never go hungry again.”
Song Jing looked at him with eyes full of gratitude.
She glanced at her dirty hand, feeling awkward. She reached out, then quickly pulled it back.
This time, Lu Jin didn't recoil as he had the first time. He simply took her hand, showing her through his actions that he wasn't disgusted by her.
But one day, when he learned she was going to marry someone else, he finally understood his own feelings.
Later, he found out she had been pretending. But so what? As long as she could stay by his side, that was all that mattered.
It's pretty (ω), keep it up and hope for more hits ❤️ 👍
