The protagonist, Wushou, transmigrates to Shanghai in the early years of the Republic of China. At first, Wushou doesn't know he's in the world of the movie Kung Fu. Then one day, on his way home from work at the pharmacy, he comes across two gangs fighting. He wanders into a Shanghai slum and sees an old beggar using a manual for the Tathagata's Palm to fool a group of children.
Only then does Wushou realize he hasn't transmigrated into the historical Republic of China, but into a kung fu world where people know martial arts. At first, Wushou is upset to learn from the old beggar that he can't cultivate inner energy and that the path of martial arts will be difficult for him. In the end, seeing Wushou's predicament, the old beggar can only tell him to train in external martial arts.
From then on, Wushou sets out to create a path of martial arts based on vital energy. In the end, he unites the martial artists of the kung fu world and ascends to a mutated Fengyun world, where he gathers martial arts techniques from across the world to create a new path based on vital energy. Finally, he ascends to the Honghuang world and becomes the Ancestor of Martial Arts.
