The Legend of Lianshan: Breaking Dawn

Not a feel-good power fantasy, not melodramatic. I just want to tell a simple story.

Heaven and earth are impartial. In this vast universe, the Three Paths and Six Realms are like a chess game controlled by unseen hands, and all living beings are doomed to become pieces. After the Investiture of the Gods, Jiang Ziya accidentally discovered a secret of the Heavenly Court: the truth behind the suffering of the mortal world was that it was all a game for the rulers of Heaven. He resolved to take up the pieces and play against Heaven, decisively severing the path to ascension for all cultivators in the world in an attempt to stop the connection between the Heavenly Court and the mortal realm. Yet a thousand years passed, and the game remained unchanged. Jiang Ziya decided to enter the game himself and become a piece, to make plans on behalf of all living beings.

As chaos loomed and the gates of the underworld swung open, a twist of fate led Jiang Ziya to save Li Xiaoshan and Jiang Lianfeng when they were still infants. Though the two had the same origin, one was righteous and the other evil, and their personalities were worlds apart. They could have followed their own separate paths, but fate ultimately entangled their lives together, inseparable to the end.

After enduring countless hardships, the two finally glimpsed the Heavenly Dao, but made a choice entirely different from Jiang Ziya's. Rather than play chess with Heaven, why not fight against it? Life is fleeting, so why not seize the moment and live it to the fullest?
