The Immortal Dragon Falls

This is an ancient and mysterious continent. 3,661 years ago, it received a gift from the heavens: a strange creature as enormous as a whale, wrapped in a ball of fire, plummeted at incredible speed onto Dimo Kui Mountain. The moment it hit the ground, its flesh and blood scattered, its bones strewn everywhere, and its remains quickly rotted away. People called it the “Rotting Dragon,” and named the legend of its descent “Dragonfall.” That year was later designated Year One of the Dragonfall Era. Historical records say that the wildfires sparked by Dragonfall burned for three days before finally going out, reducing a thousand li of forest to ashes. But surprisingly, in the years that followed, the woodlands of Dimo Kui Mountain recovered with astonishing speed. Every tree grew twice as tall as before, and the soil in the valleys changed color slightly and became unusually fertile. Harvests were plentiful year after year, and more and more people began to gather around Dimo Kui Mountain to work and live. Thus was born the continent’s first prosperous kingdom, the Kingdom of Dimo Kui. The people of Dimo Kui also discovered that weapons forged from the Rotting Dragon’s bones were extraordinarily hard. Water and food nourished directly by its flesh and blood could cause certain mutations in people, giving rise to a small elite army equipped with special weapons and endowed with unusual physiques. With its economy and military might growing rapidly, the Kingdom of Dimo Kui expanded its territory and dominated the era. However, Dragonfall would occur again every 333 years, and never again at Dimo Kui Mountain. Nourished by each new Rotting Dragon, new powers continued to rise. It is now the year 3661 of the Dragon Era, and less than two years remain until the eleventh Rotting Dragon descends. The entire continent is growing restless.
