The Second Young Master Regrets It

An explosion reshuffles the powerful families of Songcheng!

Sixth floor, Zijing Mansion. In the hallway, Xie Hao grabbed Song Luoyi’s arm, his smile lecherous. “Why did you stop running?” Song Luoyi frowned deeply and kicked him in the groin. With a bitter smile, she said, “That’s the only dirty trick you know.” As Xie Hao doubled over, clutching himself and howling, Xia Luoyi bit through her finger to keep herself half-conscious. Staggering toward the elevator, she saw the doors open in the distance, revealing a pair of long, straight legs. She looked up. The figure was half in shadow, and Xia Luoyi was already seeing double. She pressed hard on the wound she’d just made. As the legs in her fading vision seemed about to disappear, Xia Luoyi hurried after them. “Wait!” She quickly covered her mouth after speaking. Pain ripped through her, and at last she could see clearly. It was Ye Jingyi. Too ashamed to care, she pleaded, “Second Master, can you help me?” Xia Luoyi’s cheeks were flushed, her red lips parted as she panted. A sheen of sweat covered her forehead, and blood dripped from her finger. In her red slip dress, she looked like a bewitching demoness.

Later, amid torrential rain and crashing thunder, Ye Jingyi told her, “It was just for fun. Why take it seriously?” Xia Luoyi walked through the rain for who knew how long.

Her tears broke loose. With a bitter smile, she said, “I never thought he’d be my salvation. But somehow, somehow, I fell in love with him.” She looked down at her mangled feet, raised her head, and wiped away her tears. “Heavens, you really know how to play a joke on me.”

Much later, Ye Jingyi knelt in the snow, bowing his head with every step as he begged Heaven to keep her safe.
