Cai Pu’s Lottery Dream is an inspiring and thought-provoking novel about how an ordinary villager, Zhong Caipu, realizes his personal dream through perseverance and hard work, while helping his hometown prosper.
The protagonist, Zhong Caipu, lives in a poor village in southern Zhejiang, but dreams of winning the lottery and changing his fate. After a hard day’s work, he buys a ticket without fail, a habit that becomes a favorite topic of conversation among the villagers. Despite repeated setbacks, Zhong Caipu never gives up. At last, after a dream, his persistence is rewarded: he really does win the grand prize.
But Zhong Caipu doesn’t lose himself in luxury after his win. Instead, guided by his desire to contribute to his hometown, he sets out to launch a series of rural development projects. Through his hard work and ingenuity, he successfully wins a contract as a construction contractor, improving the village’s infrastructure and driving the development of rural tourism. Along the way, he gains a deep understanding of the complexities of officialdom and the tangled web of human relationships. Still, he stands by his principles and navigates these challenges skillfully, ultimately earning the villagers’ respect and trust.
As the story unfolds, however, Zhong Caipu faces new challenges and trials. While advancing county-level construction projects, he has to confront corruption and undercurrents within officialdom. With the support of County Magistrate Xia Guanzhang, he bravely steps forward to fight corruption and safeguard his hometown’s peace and development.
