The sects of Qixian Mountain were torn apart by internal strife. Wang Jiu, the old leader of the Huadong Sect, passed away peacefully in old age. Second Senior Brother Wang Zhenyu framed First Senior Brother Jiang Beiqi in order to seize the leadership. He then became the Huadong Sect’s leader as a matter of course. Later, he broke the century-old peace agreement among the sects and reignited old grudges, leading them to slaughter one another.
The Qingyun Sect’s peerless martial arts had long surpassed those of the other sects. Huadong Sect leader Wang Zhenyu therefore slaughtered the entire Qingyun Sect in a nighttime raid, solely to obtain its secret manual. The elderly Qingyun Sect leader was unable to fight back, so he entrusted his young only son, Xiang Dongqing, and the martial arts manual to the care of Monk Zhiyi at Lingguang Temple.
Xiang Dongqing grew up at Lingguang Temple, learning martial arts from Monk Zhiyi. Twenty-eight years later, he avenged himself, reestablished the Qingyun Sect, and took up the position of sect leader.
