Opening a Shop in the Apocalypse: I Hit It Big with Infinite Supplies

[Shopkeeping + apocalypse. The protagonist remains an uninvolved bystander and won’t meddle in other people’s business. He just stays in his shop and takes it easy. Since he rarely leaves, most of the events outside the shop are told from other people’s perspectives.]

Ji Yunze started working part-time at sixteen and struggled his way through life until, at twenty-eight, he finally became the personal secretary to the owner of a reasonably well-paying company. He barely had time to enjoy the good life before a car accident struck while he was delivering an urgent document to his boss. By sheer chance, he was bound to Shopkeeping System No. 0527 and became the manager of a shabby little shop.

System: Choose three starting products from this list.

Ji Yunze: Bottled water, toast, instant noodles. (Aside from bottled water, toast and instant noodles sum up twelve years of his life as a corporate wage slave. He can’t be the only one who’s suffered through that!)

Bystander A: Boss, I found a little shop selling bottled water and instant noodles for dirt cheap.

Bystander B: Really? The owner’s a saint. We have to remember his kindness and make sure nobody bullies him.

Ji Yunze had just secretly polished off a sumptuous meal meant for the shopkeeper. Faced with his customers’ grateful looks, he guiltily turned his eyes away.

Later, as the extreme weather worsened, the zombies grew stronger and even began to mutate. With nowhere else to turn, the customers established a base within the shop’s absolute territory. Relying on the goods sold there, they gradually reclaimed the lands overrun by zombies.
