Phantoms of the Maze City

[Corruption + Horror + Otherworld + Mist + Urban]

My name is Xue Zhe, and I used to be a total brat.

When I was five, I climbed all over the place, so Mom hung me up for three days and three nights.

At seven, I tried to be a trapeze artist and jumped off our second-floor balcony. I was fine, but Dad hung me up for a day and a night.

When I was eleven, I took some kids from my village to a mass graveyard in the middle of the night to dance on the graves. Five of us went in, but only three came back. The other two got lost.

We searched all night, then found out early the next morning that they had already gone home.

During summer vacation when I was sixteen, I got into a disagreement with a brat from another residential compound. I then hung him up in an abandoned factory for three days and three nights...

When my parents found out, they went over to apologize and make amends, then hung me from a roof beam for seven days and seven nights and gave me a good beating between the two of them.

After that, though, my temper started to improve. I wasn't as hotheaded, and my days grew more peaceful.

But it was precisely then that mist descended upon places all over the world...

Overnight, people in many regions around the world were drawn into it, but few ever came back out.

Those who entered also joined an organization called the Evil Spirit Cult.

As a result, it became extraordinarily difficult for the authorities to investigate...

Where did the mist come from? And where had the people who entered gone?

Fortunately, after conducting research and taking risks over and over,

scientists finally managed to extract a mist factor from the mist. It was the real mist diluted a hundredfold...

They also learned that the monsters hidden in the mist were called mist wraiths, and that some were stronger than others.

Different-colored mists also contained different kinds of mist wraiths.

They all shared one goal: to lure people inside…
