Traditional historical setting + wuxia + romance + power struggles
On Yuhui Peak, Qin Huaigu, the newly appointed abbot of Chaoling Temple,
was taken in as a lay disciple by the temple’s former abbot, Master Cangluo, when he was twenty.
From then on, he traveled across the lands and rivers, steadily honing his martial skills.
At thirty, when Master Cangluo stepped down, Qin Huaigu succeeded him as abbot and took the Dharma name Jiling.
But his heart remained bound to the mortal world, and he never found his way to the heart of the Buddha.
Years after parting from his beloved Qi Huo’er, he had no idea disaster had struck her family. Her entire household was massacred overnight, but Huo’er had not yet returned and escaped the slaughter.
Grief-stricken, she entered the mortal world in search of Qin Huaigu, hoping to tell him what had happened, only to learn that he was now the head of a sacred temple.
But Chaoling Sacred Temple had risen with the backing of the imperial court, where tangled factions feared the temple’s influence and sought to destroy it.
Though Jiling occupied the abbot’s seat and wanted no part in the affairs of the court,
he had no choice but to stand against them, striving to keep the sacred temple thriving and preserve it for generations to come.
Later, he received news that his lay family had been wiped out. The culprits seemed connected to the factions at court, and he even learned that the woman he loved might have been involved.
From then on, duty, love, hatred, and gratitude became an intricate web.
When he met Huo’er again, Jiling held a long sword pointed straight at her.
Their paths had diverged at the temple, only to cross again in the halls of power.
As it turned out, what seemed like the end of their fate together was the very beginning…
