Chen Yude of Cai County created the new modern drama The Flirtatious Sister-in-Law:
- Plot: In Qingzhuzhai, southern Henan, Yun Yan, a bride of just two months, goes with her husband Dahai to watch a village performance. On the way, Yun Yan tells him she wants to lease a bamboo grove and open a bamboo-products workshop, but Dahai mocks her and stubbornly opposes the idea. However, after hearing his sister-in-law's plans, his younger cousin Erhai applauds and offers to lend her the money for the lease. Yun Yan invites the village's veteran bamboo craftsman and hires young workers. After a flurry of preparations, the sign for the Baihe Township Bamboo Products Workshop is hung amid the sound of firecrackers. But two months later, when the county's director of native produce and trade visits to inspect the products and place an order, he criticizes their outdated designs and backward weaving techniques, dealing Yun Yan a crushing blow. Later, Yun Yan sees a brochure for a new bamboo-weaving technology and techniques training course run by a research institute in Jiangnan. She decides to travel to Hangzhou for the course, but Dahai catches up with her at the village entrance and threatens to divorce her. Despite the emotional blow and the strain on their relationship, Yun Yan resolutely chooses to pursue her career.
- Significance: Through Yun Yan's difficult journey from chasing her dream to making it come true, the drama shows how women can bravely pursue their aspirations and stay true to themselves when confronted with family opposition and career setbacks.
