The Legend of Beigong Chun, a Famous General of the Western Jin

A famed general of the late Western Jin, he twice rode a thousand li to save Luoyang, earning a place in legend.

My name is Beigong Chun. I was born into an ordinary family in Gucang, Wuwei Commandery. From a young age, I longed for the battlefield, where armies clashed and warhorses thundered, and a fierce flame burned in my heart: to defend my home and country.

As a child, I witnessed social upheaval and injustice. The people lived in hardship, and I resolved to change everything through my own strength. As I grew up, I trained hard in martial arts, tempering both my body and my will.

At last, I got the chance to enlist, and so began my epic journey. I followed Zhang Gui's forces through campaigns north and south.

Twice, Luoyang came under threat from the Han-Zhao. I led a brave force on a thousand-li march to its aid. Smoke choked the battlefield, and battle cries shook the heavens. Fearless, I charged at the front, driving back the enemy again and again with brilliant strategy and valor until they trembled at the sound of my name.

But the outbreak of the Yongjia upheaval made the situation even more complicated. In a fierce battle, I was defeated and captured. Even in the enemy camp, I refused to give in. The convictions in my heart never died.

The Han-Zhao appointed me Minister of the Secretariat. It seemed an honorable position, but it could not weaken my longing for my homeland or my devotion to justice.

When Jin Zhun rebelled, I seized the moment to raise an army in resistance, determined to protect the Eastern Palace and defend the justice I believed in. But fate played a cruel trick on me: I was ultimately defeated and killed.

My life was one of struggle and perseverance in a time of chaos. I witnessed the vicissitudes of history and endured countless bloody battles. But I never regretted my choices. I fought for my ideals and convictions until my very last breath.
