The merfolk king Ji Luo is an ancient merman who has lived through the ages. He leads a quiet life teaching on land, a small comfort in the long passage of time.
Ji Luo thought his life would simply go on like this: living quietly and keeping to himself, then peacefully reaching the end of his days.
But one day, he met a girl named Su Niannian.
It may seem as though the girl tirelessly chased after him, but Ji Luo knows that he deliberately steered things that way.
When they first met, Ji Luo was disguised as a big-brotherly prison guard.
When they met again, he was disguised as an aloof professor.
Later, he transformed once more, becoming the “blond punk” Su Niannian described as having a bit of a delinquent streak.
More than once, Ji Luo bullied Su Niannian until she cried. But in the end, he softened and gently told her, “Don’t cry. I was only pretending. I’m Ji Luo.”
“Professor Ji, this isn’t right. You’re a teacher, and I’m a student. We’re never going to get anyone’s blessing.”
“Niannian, this isn’t a teacher-student romance. It’s a merfolk romance.”
Su Niannian thought that made sense, so the two of them joined hands and peacefully spent the long, boundless years of a merfolk’s life together.
