[Redemption + devoted to each other + equally matched + flirtatious tension + mutual exploitation + turbulent schemes + a touch of ensemble cast]
[An aloof, seemingly debauched but truly devoted warlord + a beautiful, seemingly heartless schemer with a deadly gamble up her sleeve; both fall while fully aware]
Liu Qiaomu, the disowned son of the Liu family, was well known throughout town. His “Master” handed him over to Su Jiqing, the newly appointed warlord of Lincheng.
He was obedient by Su Jiqing’s side, always ready to say he liked him and loved him, and adept at pretending to be sweet and weak, the sort of person who made others ache for him.
“Sir, I like you.”
Liu Qiaomu begged Su Jiqing to love him. But after the great warlord Su fell for him with his eyes wide open, he discovered that not a single word of Liu Qiaomu’s declarations of love was real. He was nothing but a complete fraud, out to swindle him for his money, his body, and his heart.
Once he got what he wanted, Liu Qiaomu ran without a trace, leaving the great warlord Su behind for two whole years.
When they met again two years later, that “fraud” had transformed into the infamous devilish madman who had fought his way through a sea of blood. Only Su Jiqing knew who he really was.
The great warlord Su sent people out to find him that very night. He meant to settle the score, but the more he thought about it, the less he could bear to be harsh with him. Even though he was the one who’d been betrayed, he ended up comforting himself first.
Liu Qiaomu’s eyes reddened at the corners. “You lecher.”
Su Jiqing’s voice was teasing. “Only with you.”
They maneuvered carefully, step by step, yet fell deeper and deeper in spite of themselves. Beneath the calm surface lay ten years of plotting and scheming.
P.S.:
· The setting is fictional! Fictional! Fictional!
· There are quite a few characters. It has some ensemble-cast elements, but isn’t truly an ensemble story; the main plot follows the leads’ tangled relationship.
· I’ll fill in all the plot holes, so don’t rush. Take your time reading.
· The opening is a song lyric. Feel free to skip it if you don’t like it.
Good-looking, good-looking, good-looking
Come on, it's really exciting
It's rare that the writing is so good, so why doesn't anyone read it? Come on, come on!!
